Privacy Policy

This policy details how data about you is used when you access Lector. If this policy is updated, we’ll revise the last modification date, send you proper notification, and obtain your consent where required by law.

Protecting your privacy

  • We take precautions to prevent unauthorized access to or misuse of data about you. For instance, TLS is used site wide, we only use first-party cookies that are HTTPS only, and only store password hashes.

  • We do not run ads nor share your data with any third parties.

  • We do not employ tracking devices anywhere in the app. We do have Google Analytics in our public facing website. If you want to avoid that, we recommend bookmarking a direct link to the app.

  • We do not send unsolicited communications for marketing purposes.

Information we collect

  • Subscribed content: Lector is a content aggregator, so its primary purpose is to keep track of the things you are subscribed to. Lector also keeps track of which entries you have and have not read so it can display the read/unread status of entries.

  • Email address: When you sign up, Lector asks for your email address and password. Providing an email address will result in the best experience. Things like password resets and email receipts depend on a valid email address. However, if you would prefer not to provide an email address, you won’t have to.

Information usage

We use the information we collect to operate and improve Lector. We do not share personal information with third parties except to the extent necessary to accomplish Lector’s functionality. We may disclose your information in response to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal requirements; to exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims; to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud or abuse, violations of our policies; or to protect our rights and property. In the future, we may sell to, buy, merge with, or partner with other businesses. In such transactions, user information may be among the transferred assets.

Your information will be kept for as long as you have a Lector account. Your account can be terminated at any time upon your request. You can request a data dump of the data provided by or collected about you.
